Academics

Our teachers have the freedom to know and love every child in their classroom. With personalized learning approaches, they meet students where they are in their educational journeys. Our curriculum is designed to use large- and small-group learning techniques, as well as individualized attention and cross-curricular studies, to maximize student growth across all subject areas.

Elementary (K-5)

At St. Brendan Catholic School, our elementary division believes in creating a nurturing environment where students from kindergarten to fifth grade can learn and thrive. We offer a comprehensive program that encourages inquiry, exploration, and growth through various faith-based, academic, artistic, and enrichment activities. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and support all learners, ensuring a high-quality education for every child.

Middle (6-8)

We strive to support middle school students in their spiritual, academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits so they can mature into well-rounded individuals. Our curriculum fosters growth in all areas and prepares students for high school and college, while also instilling a love for God and a sense of service to the global community. Join us as we nurture young minds and help them become confident, compassionate, and capable adults.

Academic Support

Building on the educational foundations of language arts, math, science, and social studies, we enrich each child’s educational experience with classes that allow them to explore their unique skills and talents. Enrichment classroom opportunities include:

• Religion

• Fine arts, including art and music

• Physical and health education

• Technology, including one-to-one personal devices in middle school

• Spanish

Most of our enrichment offerings can be further explored in our wide after school and extracurricular activities.

Enriched in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Science and more

We also recognize that children learn differently and offer support to help all students realize their academic goals.

Early Elementary (PK4/VPK)

St. Brendan Catholic School’s early learning program offers a positive, Catholic early education for 4-year-olds. With a nurturing environment, our dedicated faculty encourages socialization, creativity, experimentation, and a passion for learning through play. Our program follows developmentally appropriate practices as well as the nationally recognized standards for early childhood education accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference (FCC).

Assessments

To ensure the overall quality of the curriculum at St. Brendan Catholic School and to monitor the progress of each student, standardized achievement tests are given annually to students. Parents generally receive a copy of test results, and scores are recorded in the child’s cumulative record folder. Tests we administer include:

• Florida VPK Assessment (state law requires pre– and post-assessment)

• FLKRS — basic concepts test given to kindergarteners in the Fall

• Terra Nova — administered to children in grades 2-8 in the Spring; measures child’s academic progress

Assessment of Catechesis Religious Education (ACRE) — administered to students in grades 5-8; measures both faith knowledge (as well as beliefs, behaviors, attitudes, and practices

• MAP Testing — administered to children in K-8 during the Fall, Winter and Spring

St. Brendan Catholic School is fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference. All teachers are licensed by the state of Florida, and half hold advanced degrees. Our curriculum meets and exceeds standards set by the State of Florida and the Diocese of Orlando.
