SLA Management Letter - July 2010
Dear Students, Parents & School Administrators
Welcome back to School Lunch for the 2010-2011 school year.
We are truly thankful for all of the wonderful associations with our school families. Thank you for your continued support of your school’s lunch program. We know times are challenging for everyone. There will be no change in the price of school lunches for the upcoming school year. We believe our lunches represent an excellent value.
We have very exciting New Menus options this year. On most days during the school week we will be providing daily entrée options. Historical favorite lunches (pizza and select others) will not have an option. All side items will remain the same on these new menu option days. Students will simply select their entrée preference during morning lunch count. The menus are carefully designed to provide quality, balance, nutrition, and ample portioning. We are upgrading the breadth and quality of many entrée items and we hope the daily selections will result in increased lunch participation. We will continue to use lunch tickets as we have in the past. Ticket book purchase options will remain as in the past. Lunch ticket books will be available at orientation, in the school office, and in the cafeteria throughout the school year. We will be attending orientation to answer any questions, as well as providing new menus, and selling lunch tickets.
Note to Parents:
We maintain our continued commitment to provide quality, balanced, and nutritious school lunches at your school. Our menus meet National School Lunch values for daily values of protein, vegetables, fruit, dairy and grain and are reviewed and approved by a Registered Dietician. All SLA elementary school lunches have zero transfats, are baked, not fried, and are reviewed and approved by a Registered Dietician.
Note to All:
We continue with our efforts to include multiple green initiatives in all of our operations. This includes pursuing green initiatives with our food suppliers, as well as our on-site ingredients and components. Every little bit counts, and we are very motivated to do our part in the pursuit of greener alternatives.
We invite everyone to visit the school website for links to our current sample menus, nutritional information and green initiatives as they become available and look forward to a great school year.
We thank you for your continued support and participation. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at info@slamgmt.com.
We look forward to a great school lunch year.
Sincerely,
SLA Management
