Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to another great year at St. Brendan School! As many of you know Box Tops 4 Education is one of the wonderful fundraising opportunities available to our school!

This year our goal is to raise the bar of earnings over the past years. In order to accomplish this goal we will need the participation of ALL our families at St. Brendan.

Box Tops offer three easy ways to earn cash for our school through everyday activities such as buying groceries, shopping online and purchasing books.

Clip — Clip Box Top coupons from hundreds of participating products and send them to school. Box Tops coupons are worth 10¢ each when our school redeems them from Box Tops for Education.

Shop — Shop at your favorite online stores through the Box Tops MarketplaceSM (btfe.com/marketplace). Up to 8% of each qualifying purchase is automatically donated to our school. There is no additional cost to your purchase and many exclusive deals and discounts can be found!

Buy books — Purchase books online at Barnes & Noble through the Box Tops Reading RoomSM. Our school will receive 6% of your new book purchases and 3% of all other online purchases.

One of the easiest ways you can help is to sign up to support our school at btfe.com. You will learn about new and easy ways to help our school earn the extra cash it needs.

Exclusive web benefits:

  • See how much our school is earning with Box Tops
  • Enter online promotions for chances to win Bonus Box Tops
  • Print money-saving coupons for your favorite Box Tops brands
  • Make mealtime easier with family-pleasing recipes

Plus, you can sign up for email newsletters to receive new product updates, and Box Tops members-only deals and discounts at Box Tops MarketplaceSM retail stores.

St. Brendan Cares

St. Brendan Cares’ purpose is to organize ways to help members of our St. Brendan family who are in need. This may be through prayer circles, sending cards, providing dinners or other actions as needs are identified.

In order to become a member please fill in the form.

If you are aware of a family that St. Brendan Cares could help (including illness, loss of any kind, new baby or any special need) please contact:

St. Brendan Cares has several subgroups so that we can operate effectively, efficiently and so members are volunteering in areas that they enjoy. We have identified several different areas/groups of St. Brendan Cares. You can participate in one or all areas. The groups and a brief description are listed along with the number of participants we need in each group:

Dinners: (unlimited members)
When we have a family in need, we will send out an email with specific dates and request help in providing dinner to the family.

General Cards: (5 members)
When notified, responsible for sending a card with a short hand written note (i.e. sympathy, thinking of you, congratulations cards, etc.)

Mass Cards: (3 members)
When needed, go to Parish office and submit request for a Mass card for person in need.

Prayer Intentions: (unlimited members)
Receive a weekly email with prayer intentions.

Parish Website: (2 members)
When weekly intentions are received through email, add them to intentions on the Parish website

Gift Cards/ Cash Donations: (unlimited members)
Donate specific gift cards (available through Script) or cash so that St. Brendan Cares can respond quickly to needs. We would like to keep on-hand Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Block Buster, movies, grocery and restaurant gift cards. The cash will be used for gift cards, general writing cards, Mass cards or where other needs surface.

Books And Beyond - Dive With The Dolphins

Once again we would like to take you on a journey through the exciting world of books. Explore the world, learn fascinating facts, and build your enthusiasm for reading.

We will chart your dolphin’s journey and record your minutes as you swim to exotic islands.

Here is how the program will work.

The program will begin on September 1st and end on April 30th.

Program goal:

  • Each student to read 20 minutes a day
  • Each student to read 100 minutes a week
  • Each student to read 400 minutes a month
  • Each student to read 3200 minutes a year
  • Each student will have read 53 hours over the school year.

It will take 213 minutes to move from one island to another on the bulletin board in the social hall. No students are allowed to touch the board. Assigned parents will move the colored dolphins. Early elementary will be red, elementary will be blue, and middle school will be green. You can put suggestions for the next month’s book theme on your sheet, i.e. pirates or ponies.

Each student will be required to log and tally their information. Parents will be asked to sign off on the logs sheets. The student will only need to hand in sheets once a month:

  • September is due Oct 2nd
  • October is due Nov 6th
  • November is due Dec 4th
  • December is due Jan 8th
  • January is due Feb 5th
  • February is due Mar 5th
  • March is due Apr 2nd
  • April is due May 7th

Assigned parents will keep track of the minutes. (Keep a copy of your log sheets in case a child looses them.)

There will be monthly prizes for the top three Readers Of The Month and recognition of the top reader in each class.

There will be prizes awarded for the top three Readers Of The Year.

Each student that participates will receive a reading medal.

Our goal is to make reading fun, enjoyable, and rewarding. We ask all parents for your support. This is an opportunity to not only increase your child’s vocabulary but to help them develop a desire to read that will last them a life time.
